The Future of Privacy

The City of Leon in Mexico is starting to install public retina scanners to track criminals and lower crime rates. Sound a little reminiscent of Minority Report to you? You’re not alone. I don’t know what’s stranger to think about though – the similarities to the movie or this quote by the CEO of the company making the scanners:

“In the future, whether it’s entering your home, opening your car, entering your workspace, getting a pharmacy prescription refilled, or having your medical records pulled up, everything will come off that unique key that is your iris. Every person, place, and thing on this planet will be connected within the next 10 years.”

…Sunglasses, anyone?
